During the Holidays, I decided to get my first Tone Finnanger book through ebay. Ebay Germany that is. You see German is not quite as occult than Norwegian to me! At any rate I though I was ordering Tildas Julhus, which looked like a great deal at the time, but received this instead. Since it came after the Holidays it's maybe for the best, as it is full of spring projects goodness. The only drawback is that this book is actually available in English (!) for much less money. Still the European version has a certain je-ne sais-quoi that cannot be denied. It might be the I-can't- really understand-what-it-says factor...
As I was saying it is really full of goodness, 35 patterns in one book! surreal.
Some of Tone's things are a little bit too country for me but she still can do the most classic house accessories. The bags are a must, and they look so easy to make... She also has a bunch of softies with a real vintage feel to them.
Besides this book, two others are available in the US. They really made the covers look unappealing in my opinion, but they are filled with more softies patterns. One is for Christmas, and the other for Easter.
the picture of the mice is from the Christmas one.
The other book I have been reading before bed, is from France. My aunt thrifted it for me and sent as a gift, it has a good amount of Boy things, which can be so hard to find. The best part are the mushrooms... How could she know?
I was just wondering the other day whether I could find a nice sewing/craft book in German. (I'm a little new to sewing, so I don't know what's out there.) I think I'll look for Tildas Haus the next time I'm in a bookstore.

Thank you for your kind words about my blog! I find your work here at Chickpea really inspiring and the photography is beautiful. Yes, the baby is my first and I feel so excited and happy - and a little bit scared at the same time.
Tilda-books are very popular here in the Nordic countries, but I haven't got any of them yet. Maybe the ones I've seen were a bit too pink for me :).
I wish you all the best for your pregnancy!

Definitely good books you have found . I have the Tilda books and am also stunned about the many patterns.
The French one looks really interesting. I'm allways searching for nice boys' stuff...
Lovely blog - I will be back!

I stumbled across your great blog, and have some news that may interest you and your readers. I work at JR Language Translations, and we just finished translating the Spring pattern catalog for Simplicity into German.
It will be launched in Europe in February.
Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle by Tone Finnanger. My mother and I had great fun creating beautiful Christmas accessories for our homes.
