After loosing a rather long post about this little set of brass and teak flatware I will cut my losses and simply show off a few images of what is probably my 'most lucky find' of the month. Almost complete, missing only a few spoons (of course, it's always spoons) and in great condition. These were apparently made in the 50-60's in Thailand but I think they could pass for current or old hunting cabin. I can completely see my grandpa eating with those...

I really do love antique brass, and I have even before Martha said it was cool in this month issue of MSL. The shop I bought those from in Park City clearly didn't 'get it' (they had all of those stored in a sad zipploc gallon bag on a back shelf) which was perfect timing for me!

Homemade Tea Bags

Before I show you anything I want to clearly state that I did not come up with the ideas that resulted in the craft below. The tea bags with clouds originally come from a French online store called Simply Factory. It is a small store much like an etsy shop. I first discovered the adorable offerings through one of my favorite low-key blogs La Maison Douce. My aunt and I love going through it over the phone, her in France and I on the other end of the line in Utah. The funny thing, Audrey the blog creator is an expat living in New Zealand. We are travelling around the world just like that! The tea bags are out of stock right now alas.

Now that this is out of the way, to business!

I have guests tonight, for a little stamp carving get together and decided at the last possible moment (two days ago) to make some party favors with my Lemon Verbena harvest. A late night amazon order later, I had the tea bags, food safe twine and die-cut shipped right in time (last night). I love how they turned out! and will make many more for the family, now that everything is on hand.

Something to write home about

I saw these enticing cheesecakes-in-a-jar in the January edition of Martha Stewart Living mag, it was love at first sight, I just had to bake them. (sorry no link, it's not up yet)

Meyer lemon is our house favorite, so that's what went in juice and zest both topped with more Meyer Lemon marmalade. I think any cheesecake recipe would do as long as you bake them in a dish filled with water.

Some I topped with cherry jam for a kid-friendly alternative, still Finn turned his nose on it tonight, go figure.

Yesterday I took an extra step towards the 21th century and started pinning at Pinterest due to the insistence/mockeries of many a girlfriend. It's much more fun than facebook which I loathe. Thank you girls I love it! Time squandered...time squandered (see button on your right).

Quilted Notetaker

I finished this notetaker last week. At last! it had been laying there in separate pieces since well before Christmas. It will leave shortly for Germany, but it's already collecting very secret recipes...

Talking of which, I made my first Kugelhoff yesterday, it was unbelievably good! I am still floored by it and if the butter supply was a bit more plentiful I would immediately start another one:
