This scandinavian inspired wreath is one of my favorite project, and I splurged on Danish linen for the sample. It's worth it, with its timeless dots and all! The pattern also includes a recipe for the little flag garlands that decorate our tree every year since last. You can find the linen in this etsy shop (randomly picked).

Many months ago, I was approached by the online Web knitting magazine Petite Purls to write a simple sewing pattern for their summer edition. The contributing writers are so impressive I had to say yes!
Life made things complicated for the editors and the 13th issue only just came out. Please take a moment to follow this link to lots of free wonderful content.
The project I worked on is this canvas bag, inspired by one bought from JCrew many years ago. It's sturdy and roomy, perfect for the market or the pool. A little out of season maybe, but a classic none the less...
I decorated the inside using the Bernina 580 and a pattern purchased online, it's like an automated raw edge applique, very cool!

My new pattern is up at We All Sew. You can now make gifting and hanging cones for all occasions. It's been my favorite accessory to sew this year and I bet that once you make one you will love how elegant they make anything you place in them.
I love the way the pattern pdf looks, it's really rewarding seeing my work all dolled up that way!
I gave one to Thomas to fill with my birthday gifts, which was a boon on his end as wrapping isn't his forte. A bit like a birthday stocking I suppose, but lined in Liberty.
You can leave the back blank or embroider it, with or without an Embroidery Computer (I used the Bernina 580), with the recipient's initials. Here, Finn's preschool teacher:

I know it has been a while since I last posted... It's odd working under the cloud of confidentiality! (LOL). Really, as luck would have it more magazine and web work came this way and I may not speak about it before it's published... That said here is a new free pattern, hot from Bernina's We All Sew. Have you ever wanted to try out one of your machine's decorative stitches? Or a wing needle? In order to explore Heirloom sewing, I wrote this simple pattern for a mitered Linen Table Topper for a wedding, a feast or simply a quite corner.
It is sewn from handkerchief linen and would look at home on a side table either round or square. I imagine it would be fabulous on the guest book table at a wedding.
I love Handkerchief Linen, it's transparent as well as stiff. You can crease it with your fingers to fold in hems. It was hard deciding which stitch to use as the B 580 has them in abundance but in the end the best is to try all your favorite on a scrap of linen with the wing linen in and decide which is showcased best under these specific circumstances.

Not without a little squeal of excitement I found out that the pattern I wrote for the Cosmetic Brush Case is live on the Sewing Republic site! I was led to believe it would be much much longer before it would happen. Admittedly this is my personal favorite, I kept annoying my girlfriend with chats like "did I already show you this awesome thing I sewed? Yeeees Juliette, you did already showed me!".
So go on fellow make-up junkies, start sewing!

My new free pattern download is up! You can find it here, at the Sewing Republic amongst many other good projects from my fellow Bernina friends. The crumb catcher is for you parents of a wee one that have been embarrassed by the mess left behind under the chair at friends or restaurants. Now you don't have to scoop it up with remnant of paper napkins while the public watches. You can just take the crumbs with you to feed the birds or the rubbish bin. It can go through the wash to await another adventure in artful spilling!
Think about all the inflated tips you left behind in shame and get sewing!
Of course seeing the project live online calls for celebration and a give away. I chose some Japanese goodness to match the simplicity of the catcher. One sewist will win a copy of the Petite Pattern Book : Simple and Natural.
