Penguin & Fish inspired octopus

Remember the big Octopus, my hand carved stamp inspired inspired by Alyssa Thomas' book under the Penguin & Fish label? you can find the full size project in the latest issue of Mollie Makes US edition. I love Alyssa's embroidery style and secretly hope she becomes a machine embroidery designer because Penguin & Fish + BERNINA 780 = unstoppable cuteness!

Alyssa's Octopus embroidery is featured in the 3rd installment of Mollie Makes US edition, so is a really appealing ombre kimono from Leanne Garrity. Another project that caught my eye is a mexicana headband that would be worth shrinking down to the size of a Blythe doll. So lucky that the editors sent me a copy to review!

Mollie Makes US issue 2!

Look what came in the mail! The second issue of the US edition of Mollie Makes, inside I found two articles that really spoke to me. The first one about using small pieces of vintage tablecloths, handkerchiefs and napkins to create an hairy entirely new piece of cloth. and the second about dressed up embroidery hoops. I decided to try and see if I could combine the two using these gorgeous rescued monograms I received for my birthday.

I want to use a blue stripe around the frame I think, I will try a few colors before I commit to modge podging anything to this cool old frame!

Mollie Makes, for those of you who don't already know, is a UK based magazine packed with projects of all types -- sewing, crochet, up-cycling, etc. -- along with news and product information for the craft lifestyle, and profiles of notable designers and makers.

Growing up in France reading Marie Claire Idée, my dream was to one day contribute to such a magazine. Well Mollie Makes is the english language equivalent and I am crossing my fingers that I can make this little girl's dream happen in the future as I am about to review each copy this year, courtesy of the editors!

Looking at the cover above I can't help but wonder about the Japanese tie-dye, something I have always wanted to try for a scarf and a whole cloth quilt...
