When I came home today, from the most traumatic dental visit of my life, a lovely message of seasonal thanks was waiting for me on the answering machine. I called back my girlfriend and the first thing I wanted to say was: "I love you too!"
I don't really understand Thanksgiving as a holiday, being an expat transplanted in a family of expats, but never mind that, I will go skiing tomorrow afternoon and when Finn is old enough he can come with me. We'll tell his dad he should come too and it will be our family tradition.
For now I'll just be posting more nude pictures I know you enjoy so much (wink!)
Happy Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas, and family with us. Love is something you reflect in your blog. Just for the record, get a new dentist. Your dental visits should never be traumatic.
Here is another thought for Thanksgiving. I found it on Gwyneth Paltrosw's website GOOP.
"You don’t have to conjure up lists of things to talk yourself into being grateful for; simply tune into that living stream of Being within you and pay attention to how it moves. Gradually you will come to see that gratitude is not a response; it is a river that is always flowing through you, and that you can learn to flow with. Wherever your external circumstances may appear to be heading, it will always be carrying you inwardly toward fullness and love.
Whoever has learned the secret of proactive gratitude taps into that famous “living water” described in the New Testament, that becomes a source of healing both for one’s own life and for the whole world.

ooohhhh the evil dentist!
My poor Dan also got a pretty bad experience with the dentist a few years ago and now (every year) I need to fight with him to go to our annual appointment because he acts like a baby. And because of that, I don't like dentist anymore...we never fight except for the dentist situation!!!!

Bad day turned into a good day, ha? I wish that traumatic dental visit would also turn into a fun visit someday. Hope you'd had a great time skiing, man.
