Thank you for sharing your story. I suffered from anorexia at around the same age as you, which later transformed into bulimia. I know it's an ongoing battle, but it sounds like you are doing everything right, and taking great care of yourself to not let yourself go down that path again. You sound so strong and inspiring. Congratulations on coming so far.

Amen. I especially liked this part, because I find myself being very negative about my body sometimes: "I am not happy about my body everyday but since I started running which is admittedly very recent I have a new found respect for what I didn't know it could do. See, respect is what is missing when you starve yourself, loathing takes its place instead." Well said. Thank you.

(I just looked up Pro-Ana on wikipedia and I'm appalled. Wow. I had no idea.)

I agree that there is too much emphasis on body size, shape, age and physical beauty in our society. Physical and mental wellbeing is far more important. Interestingly the people I find most attractive are those that are comfortable in their own skin whatever size, shape, age or colour it is.
I also love this song - it gets played alot in New Zealand because Kimbra (the female singer) is a Kiwi.

Lynn

Yes, I was stunned when I first learned about that word too. From Tumblr. Some 13 year old girl's "health motivation" site. I just about passed out. Heart breaking, indeed.

Kudos to your (and your mom!) for working hard to get your issues under control.

Chase l Oh The Cuteness!

Good for you for standing against that crap! Granted, I could stand to lose some of my extra weight, but I know for me my ideal size is a large shirt, size 14 pants, etc. I hate seeing photos floating around the web that say things like "Nothing tastes better than skinny feels". It should say healthy instead of skinny if it really wants to motivate people.
