This weekend marked our first ever night at the cabin, an exciting event for the 4 years old and 34 alike. I forgot my camera, of course...
Our neighbor came by, with her cat in tow (the animal follows her on hikes) and showed us that if we were to walk about three minutes up the ridge behind our property line we could find a little makeshift bench and witness the sunset over a completely unspoiled valley. With the help of Thomas' cell phone I will relay (poorly) the shock I felt:
Even the awesome power of the iphone 7, or 8 ? which one are they on by now? I cannot reproduce the elation we felt at that moment. This is simply a surplus of luck that will come back to haunt me later on!
A little later on the trail, we could see the peaks of Alta and there I felt completely turned around, as if sitting on top of the world I was hanging upside down.
It's not easy on the body (lungs) being that high. Your throat is constantly aching for oxygen and you get clumsy with the simplest things (don't ask about dinner and the upside down pie). Nonetheless, I made Finn a tepee today.
We will add to it with each hike and see if the snow spares it this winter. I used dental floss to hold it together, we had nothing in the way of strings or rope laying around. It gives an unusual minty scent to the edifice!
Love it! It's so nice to just escape and get away every once in a while!

This is absolutely amazing! I'm speechless. I've never seen that kind of beauty in real life, thanks for sharing your hiking experience!
