All the sewing machines in the house have been getting a workout lately! a workout means regularly opening things up to clean and oil those fancy ladies. This leads me to invite you to read a small article I wrote for We All Sew precisely on this subject. To research proper maintenance I visited our local Bernina dealer (Nuttalls Fabric Center) and sat down by their technician while he was making sure all was well with the B580.

Yesterday I finally finished the quilt top started for my mother about oh... 7 years ago! It has been sent to the quilter and thus should be ready to travel with me in March. I already have two quilts planned for my suitcase, maybe I won't be able to fit in any clothes! The quilt was a kit built around Valori Wells Bloom pattern. I will take a larger picture when it comes back for binding. Those reds are terribly difficult to photograph, I am giving up all attempts at editing this rainbow of colors:
Now that this baby albatross has been lifted from my shoulders I can finally start something new. The promise of a proper art studio has filled me with a healthy dose of optimism and I have decided to tackle a paper piecing project. It's been really fun so far, even the curves went smoothly. One block down quite a few to go.
