I could hardly believe it when I got the email but I finally won a giveaway! I think after 6 to 7 years on the blogosphere it is a first. Maybe I should enter more of them!
This particular giveaway came from my favorite gardening/jewelry making blog, Hedgerow Rose. Laurie the author has grown the most impressive collection of english roses in her garden and her pictures will make you want to smell your screen. She his a master gardener in my mind and a real artist when it comes to casting rings with lovely details. Warning: you can loose yourself reading this blog and emerge a few hours later with terrible rose envy, the original green mosnter.
The giveaway was officially for a gorgeous catalogue of vintage roses but separately she sent me a box of goodies filled with flower petals, Calendula seeds, a little scent bag, post cards of her own photographs, the little magnets above and those adorable Laurie-meets-Kate-Spade earrings. Because of a troublesome cold I cannot actually smell any of it (darn!) but I have been wearing the earrings all day and they are wonderful at distracting away from my red and runny nose! Thank you again Laurie and as soon as the book arrives I will be sure to post a few pictures of the lovely illustrations.
Note: Does anyone have any advice on how to start the calendula seeds? In pots or directly In the ground?
Pleased as punch you enjoyed your goodies!
Here's a post I wrote about growing Calendula: http://hedgerowrose.com/annuals-perennials/annuals/2011/10/27/growing-calendula-officinalis-zeolights/
It's super easy...I basically just push the seeds down into the soil (sometime in May for us in zone 6) and let them do their thing.
