A few more things blooming and growing to share with you from the garden. The three blooms of Queen of Sweden above, that open during the day and close slightly at night. I exchanged my not so thriving Queen of Sweden for another shrub this spring. It came with buds so I really can't take any credit! Another shrub that called my name was Princess Alexandra of Kent, the bright red rose below.
At this point in my collecting I am less worried about finding specific roses and more concerned about finding healthy shrubs from the nursery and checking how big they are likely to grow. Limited on space, only small shrubs make it home to be planted. Princess Alexandra is such a rose, opportunity for a healthy specimen and a diminutive size: check.
It's not just roses growing in the yard, vegetable too. In fact this year I tried growing many things out of grow pots (also called smart pots or root pouches). Our potential potager more than doubled as a result. It's all planted now but too ugly to photograph. I will be sure to share later how growing vegetable in felt bags work in Utah...
