Did you know that you can get a free 'Christmas is here' download from Itunes. It's instrumental and just perfect for that little Holiday get together I am putting together next week. Every year I invite people on Thomas work team for a Christmas party and instead of thinking of food I spend an inordinate amount of time day dreaming about what music to play. I bet Pandora would be great for exploring this subject further.
Related by music only, Urban Outfitters Listen #12 is up as well.
I woke up to the sound of rain this morning, feeling cool from having left the window open. It's such a treat here in the high desert of the Rockies. I can almost pretend I am back home in Brittany and this is just another fall morning, our socks getting wet jumping puddles before we even make it to class. I got to dress Finn in a yellow rain jacket I picked up for him at the Gap. (see below)
Finn was totally humoring me with the jacket, being quite satisfied with himself when he was declared 'super cute'. I might want this top to complete his look, it's from their American in Paris collection after all.
I also wanted to remind those interested in free music that five pretty good songs can be picked up today on the Urban Outfitter blog for music Monday.
NOTE:
I want to thanks everyone who left a comment for the last two posts or so, I loved reading them, from bloggers I know and bloggers I don't. I have been failing at responding lately... will try to do much better this week.

Concert, clothes etc...
I went to see those two in concert Thursday night, they were the last of the Twilight Concert Series this summer. That means it was free and packed (16000 people) and hot and smelled like MJ a lot. She sounds almost better live if that is possible. This is just one impressive act.
Zooe Deschanel is always so put together in that ' oh! this old thing' way. I can't help but love her bangs and wonder if she just wakes up to this kind of hair perfection, my hunch? no.
That make me want to share more girlie girl things such as this amazing coat from Garnet Hill Kids (it's a really good thing for my wallet that Finn isn't a girl).
And I couldn't help but stare at this piano, stunning isn't it?

Hi there!
HI there! Is anyone still reading? I have completely fallen off the face of the blogging world lately, and to be honest it's been nice, as if this's what summer's for... But I feel the guilt and separation growing, so here I am, back at it before I forget my typepad login completely.
On the sewing front, my charming little students and I are making trees strait out of Amanda Soule's book. It's a great way to use some precious scraps and Finn went nuts when he saw the one I am making for him, as in grabbing it, running away screaming "mine!" and then placing it lovingly on the floor to sit by. This is the first time since Finn was born 2.5 years ago that he has shown any interest for something I handmade for him, apart from blankets. So this is HUGE.
Here is a peek of the WIP:
I also talked myself into buying Larissa's new pattern. It's a decoupage with painstakingly detailed instructions.
Here is a picture I lifted from her blog:
I like everything this woman creates, which makes me a silly groupie I guess, oh well! She is very nice too, did I mention that?
Because I am in full blown link mode I want to share another great creative find, via Larrissa: Karen Larsen is a illustrator with the funiest/cutest style. You can read her blog Box of Birds here and admire this felt squirrel brooch from her shop.
If you are still reading by this point, may I also point out a fashion redo project from my com-padre at The Sewing Republic? An adorable Shirt Dress that would look amazing with leggings. I am making that one as soon as the husband is diverting his eyes from his closet! (edit: I think it would be fabulous out of a flannel shirt in the winter!)
FINALLY! let's end this epic post on the song that has been living in my head as of late. Maybe I can plant it i yours. Wink!

She & Him
I bought Volume One off itunes when it came out, and it looks like Volume Two will be just as nice.
She & Him - In The Sun from Merge Records on Vimeo.
PS: I just accidentally discovered that embedding videos from Vimeo is so much better than Youtube. Check out the awesome quality! Yeah!!!!

I sewed!
I made, created, sewed something yesterday! This is a very big deal for me, I had been craft-paralyzed for so long now. It felt not like side effect of the blues but more like it's own condition. I know I am not out of the woods yet but still, that is the way out of my lousy creative mood. I spend too much time lately worrying about things like "if I really really like Lily Allen, does that mean I am crass...". Instead I popped in her CD and got the fabric under the walking foot.
The article below is a diaper wallet that doubles as a changing mat. It's cute (I hope) and very functional (I know). The Sewing Republic will be receiving this one, so sadly no poopy baby's butt will ever grace its chenille but in exchange they will publish my pattern, for free and make it look much cuter than I ever could.
and a view of the inside
Back to Lily, may I suggest this song and this one, completely tame considering but sweet and sour too.

I like...
I love those two prints from the Rifle Company:
I am trying to talk myself out of buying them for Finn's B-day which is coming up so soon it's scary.
The pros: They are not very expensive, not very big but super sweet.
The cons: They will not fit in an Ikea frame, they might not get here on time and then I will still have to find a frame anyway. And I have been naughty and ordered myself this huge set of makeup brushes I hear are fantastic...
Lots to ponder, I might break down though... OK, I did.
I also like this singer, found via this French woman:
It's all good, I guess... A little under the weather, a little overwhelmed right now. Maybe it's the B-day, maybe it's the cold... I want some sunshine and I want more snow so the skiing season never ends. Can't have both, clearly, hence the mood. I'll tell you more soon about the skiing though. It's quite the adventure.

More Pomplamoose!
The grapefruits released a new song. If you listen you can discover that natalie cannot whistle at all! But because it's her, it's terribly cute:

Sunday soundtrack
If you happen to be looking for something sickeningly sweet to listen to/sing at the top of your lungs this weekend while cleaning your place I'd like to make a suggestion below (warning: first 1:30 minutes are a little boring). Or if you happen to be horribly home sick, like say... me for example, this song will also do the trick nicely.
I just love Francoise Hardy, she is a great makeup inspiration of mine ( heavy eyeliner wink).
Olivia Ruiz has a cover of this song that might be even stickier, as in this is stuck in my head now!

a pretty Hat, a pretty song.
Which one of those pretty things make a Friday better. It doesn't get any better than Friday anyway...
The hat first: Gretel by Ysolda Teague. The rib is a little on the super stretchy side so I turned it up. The yarn is a Mohair blend called merino kid from Shibui Knit, very very nice...
The pretty song now, Dream by Priscilla Ahn. When I am done writing this I am buying the track right away.
