As Finn approaches 10 month old, my breast milk supply is almost gone. This wouldn't be so bad if he was receptive to bottles, sippy cups etc.. but he wants none of those. My recent trip to the dietitian was in large part motivated by this issue. She had the best advice for me, and pretty good success followed.
She told me that Finn would probably never drink from a bottle, and especially not yucky formula. She mentioned using regular cups and bingo! we have a drinker again. Because he is a bit young for real cow milk, the dietitian told me to offer him liquid yogurt, and Finn couldn't agree more. I am currently trying Kefir, because it comes in much larger bottle than Yo Baby, and is offered in plain.
When I asked about Mango, she reminded me to offer Finn some pieces as finger food, very tiny pieces. He loves it. So keep the mango's short sides for this purpose.
Recipe:
One mango
One whole milk yogurt ( can be flavored)
Cut the mango away from it's pit. Keep one half for yourself!
The second half is to be blended well in a food processor with a yogurt. Serve immediately or refrigerate for a mid-afternoon snack.
The pit will still have some fruit attached. Use it to give the baby some tiny pieces as finger food. While he plays with this new yellow slimly thing, eat your half!

So they can't have cows milk alone, but it's okay to have in yogurt? I guess I should count myself lucky, Brice will take a bottle if we have to have one (breast milk, though...not formula). He likes the playtex brand. But he really is a "boob" baby. I can't wait for Brice to be ready for food...he is all yucked out by it since the rice cereal allergy presented itself.

I just happened upon your new blog. I want to share a book that I loved and still use for my son. You may have heard of it already but if you haven't it's just lovely. The book is very thorough on when to introduce what foods, how much and some cool toddler recipes also but birthday/celebration ideas that do not include overly sweet cakes and foods to celebrate with. Here is the title and author: "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron. http://www.superbabyfood.com/buy.html

I'm excited to find this blog! I am struggling with milk supply too and a nine month old baby that will not drink anything else. I really want to get her drinking a green smoothie but she refuses. I have tried a sippy cup and feeding her liquids from a spoon but I will try a regular cup today.
I was making my own baby food and freezing it but after getting a stomach bug two weeks ago she will not have anything to do with it. She will only eat fresh fruits and veggies plus she ate a big bowl of black beans the other day.
I just had an idea. I haven't tried mashed potatoes yet. I could sneak some coconut oil in there. Anyway, keep posting!

A veggie diet can help a baby to grow heathy, that's no doubt about that...
