When Finn was still in my belly, Helen told me about this book ( see below). Another friend also mentioned that she knew a Vegan woman who hand drew a picture book for her children, she called it :
" We don't eat our friends". I have never seen this book and therefore it's become a bit of my personal Holy Grail... But I realize now, they are out there, the published ones:
I was looking for it again tonight in the back of the sieve-brain, the search gave me more ideas...
This one has great illustrations:
and this one sends a clear message:
If you know of any veggie books for children that you can't live without please share!

There are two veg*n books I know of that you don't have here; well, three actually b/c Rahda wrote two of them. Linx:
http://www2.cruzio.com/~radha/Publications.htm
That's Radha's site. She lives near me and is a great lady. She sells the books directly and will even sign them to your child's name if you ask.
Here's the one I think you may have heard of:
http://www.amazon.com/Thats-Why-Dont-Eat-Animals/dp/1556437854/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1243890160&sr=8-2
"That's why we don't eat animals" is close to "don't eat our friends".. right? I got this one and it has some sad parts so might not be good for really little kids, but you can "look inside" on amazon and see for yourself.
:)
Hope that's helpful.

THeres a golden book illustrated by tenngren (sp? ) called 'the tawny, scrawny lion' that my 15 month old can't get enough of , for some reason. The lion only gets fat when he eats the yummy carrot stew, NOT when he's chasing after the bear, monkey, zebra, etc. ITs a sweet thing.... and vintage too!

Thank you for the referrals on these books. I'll have to look into them for my boys. =)
